First off, I love the idea behind the AWPP. My only comment is the name. Would "Association for Windows PowerShell Professionals" be better if its just "Association for PowerShell Professionals"? With new DSC resources to manage Linux and the comment by Snover that PowerShell might go open source who know where PowerShell might be in a few years. PowerShell on Android or iOS anyone? Although that does give it a weird acronym of 'APP' which isnt very helpful. Either way I am behind it. Party on!

For Microsoft, it's a legal thing. "Windows PowerShell" is the trademark; someone else already had the name "PowerShell" for something else completely unrelated.

Correct. "PowerShell" is a thing, and it isn't "Windows PowerShell."
